Bain DACH is running a scholarship program worth 10,000 for exceptional women. The various components of the program will inspire and equip you with practical leadership and personal impact skills to chart your career journey. The idea behind the global initiative is to support and encourage outstanding students to enter a field where women are traditionally underrepresented.
Part of the program is the True North Workshop providing insights into consulting, tools for case cracking and tips for interview preparation. Following the True North Workshop, a group of top candidates will get exclusive access to our Lead to Inspire Masterclass. Components of the Masterclass include monthly online trainings, one-on-one mentoring and in-depth interview coaching. On top of that, the scholarship winner will receive CHF 10,000 or € 10,000 as well as an internship offer for Bain in one of our DACH offices.
We are keen to meet university students from any degree or discipline who identify as female. You should successfully have completed your first year of study (assessment year) at any university in Switzerland, Germany or Austria (DACH region) graduating earliest in summer 2023. We are looking for strong academic achievers with great communication skills, drive, passion and energy to solve problems and really make a difference.

During this virtual Q&A session you will get the chance to learn more about who we are, gain an insight into the application process and have your questions answered.
After reviewing all incoming applications, we will reach out to you mid-September 2022 about the application outcome. Successful applicants will be invited to the True North Workshop. The workshop will provide unique insights into our industry and what a career in consulting could offer you. We will create opportunities for you to learn and practice a number of key skills, including some of the tools our teams use to crack critical business problems. We will also provide you with tips and tricks for interviews.
A one-on-one interview to get to know you better and practice your interviewing skills will also be part of the True North Workshop. However, don’t worry! We make sure that you get all the support you need prior to the workshop.
We are keen to meet students who successfully completed their first year of study (assessment year) at any university in Switzerland, Germany or Austria (DACH region). The DACH university needs to be your home university, that means an exchange semester is not sufficient, but a double degree is. Students who are about to complete their Bachelor’s degree at a DACH university, who have planned to study for a Master’s degree abroad, are also welcome to apply.
We are keen to meet students from any Bachelor’s degree or discipline who successfully completed their first year of study (assessment year) at any university in Switzerland, Germany or Austria (DACH region). This includes 3rd year Bachelor’s students who will soon start a Master’s degree. 1st year Master’s students graduating from a DACH university earliest in summer 2023 are also welcome to apply.
The Bain Online Assessment measures numerical, verbal and logical reasoning skills and covers questions on your behavioral preferences. Bain collaborates with a test provider called Sova Assessments. The assessment is tailor-made for Bain and we will make sure you have all the information you need to familiarize yourself with the online assessment. Until then, you can find helpful preparation tips by visiting Sova’s Candidate Preparation Hub regarding numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, logical reasoning (all under ability tests) and a personality questionnaire.
We use the data to make a data-driven decision on each applicant who takes the test. Once we have the test results, we will review every application as a whole to decide who will be invited to the True North Workshop.
For Germany and Austria, we are keen to meet students who are fluent in German or English. For Switzerland, we are keen to meet students who are fluent in one of the national languages of Switzerland (German, French, Italian or Romansh). In general, fluency in German is an advantage, but not required. The True North Workshop will be held in English.
When submitting your application, you will be asked the following questions:
1. What does ‚True North‘ mean to you? Tell us about an experience/story you’ve had regarding True North? (Max word limit: 150)
2. What is your favourite example of a team (e.g. extracurricular activities, part time work, university projects) you’ve worked in to solve a problem? (Max word limit: 150)
The True North Workshop will take place in Zurich and Munich from 6th to 7th October 2022. You will be assigned to one of the two locations based on your place of study and/ or office interest. When you apply, please select 100% Munich, Vienna or Zurich under office preferences based on your country of study and, if different, use the comments field to specific your preference for the workshop.
Our first priority is to keep our people and recruits safe. In view of the current pandemic situation, and with the necessary precautionary measures in place, we are hopeful that we will be able to gather in person. We are continuously monitoring the situation closely and will provide an update in August.
The True North Workshop is a key element of the scholarship program and will take place from 6th to 7th October 2022. On the first day starting 13:30 PM you will learn and practice a number of key skills such as how to crack critical business problems and how to communicate with impact. In the evening we will create an opportunity for you to get in touch with Bain consultants in an informal atmosphere during dinner. On the second day, we focus on the one-on-one interviews. The program on day two will end by 05:00 PM at the latest.
An invitation to the workshop does not automatically qualify you for an internship or fulltime position. Only the scholarship winner will receive a direct internship offer for one of our DACH offices. However, for everyone else it is a great first step towards getting to know us better and experience what management consulting is.
